Most peptide degradation happens on the bench, not in transit. This checklist covers solvent choice, volume maths, freeze-thaw and record-keeping.

Lyophilized peptides are stable for extended periods when stored correctly. Nearly all avoidable losses occur in the first ten minutes after the vial is opened.

Before you open the vial

  1. Allow the vial to reach room temperature — opening a cold vial draws in moisture.
  2. Confirm the lot number against the COA.
  3. Calculate solvent volume from net peptide content, not gross vial mass.

Reconstitution

  • Store lyophilized vials at -4°F to 46°F (-20°C to 8°C), protected from light.
  • Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water; add solvent slowly down the vial wall, never directly onto the pellet.
  • Do not shake — swirl gently until fully dissolved.
  • Once reconstituted, keep refrigerated and record the reconstitution date on the vial.
  • Log the batch/lot number against the matching COA before any assay work begins.
